October is here and porches are starting to be adorned with pumpkins, gords and bails of hay. The crisp air is adorned with colorful leaves, the smell of cider warms on the stove and apples are picked off of trees. October is one of our very favorite months. Yeah, we are little sentimental love birds who got married in October before it was really cool to get married in the fall. We love everything this season has to offer…except one…the great pumpkin patch. Let’s clarify…we don’t love what the pumpkin patches have turned into.
When our kids were small our budget was smaller.
We were able to go to a small local farm, grab a wheelbarrow and walk into the field to select a pumpkin. It was low key, stress free, easy to keep our eyes on our kids and didn’t break the bank. Then one year it wasn’t open. It seems as though all the other mega farms started having huge attractions put them right out of business. So to appease our kids we ended up at one of these mega farm patches charging for each thing, including getting your family out to the patch by wagon…you guessed it we were the family trudging through the mud and muck on foot at this point mostly out of principle. We then proceeded to pay for the four pumpkins each of our kids selected with a price tag of $75. Not even kidding. $75 for four pumpkins whose fate would be later determined at our kitchen table adorned with newspaper. As I looked around at all the families with super small kids of course wanting to do everything, one thought sprung to the front of my head.
We would have never been able to afford this when our kids were little.
My heart sank. We would have been the family who would have had to put the kids back in the car and leave or choose to stay, toss it on a credit card and push of the electric bill. That shouldn’t have to be a choice. This idea, The Great Pumpkin Patch Giveaway, sprung from that experience!

I have a deserving mother and daughter. I cannot express enough how awesome this duo is ! {yep, DUO it’s just them 2} ❤️ My sister, Erica has done this whole parenting thing on her own for six years. From the moment my niece Zoey was a flickering heartbeat on that screen there was never a doubt that she would not be loved. My sister has Changed jobs, moved 8 states away and given up her 20s’s, but has gained a best friend, named Zoey Renee! I am 1200 miles away and would love the opportunity to send them and my parents to the PUMPKIN PATCH! Picking Zoey up from Daycare everyday at 6pm and bedtime at 8pm doesn’t leave a lot of time for adventures Monday-Friday! This would be the perfect Saturday afternoon for them! Thank you for considering them!

I would like to nominate a family of eight…they are dear friends of mine through adoption and they have 3 biological children and 3 adopted children from Ethiopia. Their last two children just arrived home from Ethiopia after nearly THREE years of waiting for the government to release their paperwork. These children, who are in 7th & 9th grade, waited YEARS in their orphanage, waiting on a family. My friends family said yes to them and enfolded them into their family in a beautiful way. Praise Jesus they are home now and adjusting to a family of 8! Their mama had to travel and stay in Ethiopia for two months to fight to bring them home. The financial and emotional burden was great. This giveaway would bless their family in an incredible way as they continue to adjust and bond to their beautiful family of 8. Thank you for your consideration!
