Oh goodness this is soooo good! I’m always looking for ways to cut down on buying prepared items at the store. I like knowing what goes into things, but sometimes it’s so hard to recreate a loved store bought item. Not with this recipe, I don’t think I will buy pre-made salsa again! I found this great recipe on Sew You Think You Can Cook website. They are part of my recipe swap club family. Chips and salsa are one of our family’s favorite snack/party food. I cannot wait to set this out for them this evening. I think they will be blown away that I made it!
Even though the tomatoes are canned, it is so fresh with the lime and fresh cilantro added. I only added the tip of the jalapeno not the whole thing, and it gave it the perfect amount of heat, anything more than that would have been too much for this crowd. I also left the honey and cumin out, for no other reason than I forgot to add them! 🙂 I can’t get over how quick it was to make. Start to finish – 5 minutes and that included rinsing out the blender! Good news is most of these ingredients I almost always have on hand. And it cost less than half the amount of a pre-made salsa from the store and I can say every single ingredient in it! I hope you find this recipe as simple and delicious as I did!
Blender Salsa original recipe HERE
1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes and green chillis
1/4 yellow onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, smashed and peeled
1 small jalapeno, ribs and seeds removed (add less for a milder version)
3/4 tsp salt (I used a little less, I always start with less and taste test)
1/4 tsp cumin
2 tsp honey
1/4 C fresh cilantro
juice of 1 lime
Place it all in your blender – pulse several times to get the desired consistency you like, our family doesn’t like chunky salsa so I pulsed it about 6 times -perfection. Enjoy!

Glad you liked it! Yes, I’ve toned down the spice level ever since though my husband likes the heat.
